In 1978 the South Pacific Division Treasurer was faced with two financial challenges:
The rapid growth of the mission field; and
The needs of Avondale College
Both of these could not be postponed without jeopardizing accreditation of Avondale degree courses. A solution was needed to relieve the Division of some of Avondale’s financial needs without detracting from the quality of training and preparation of young people to serve the Church. On Sunday November 26, 1978 The Avondale Foundation was formed. A group of Adventists were prepared to give of themselves, their resources and their experience to support the interests of Avondale College. The talents of these entrepreneurial Adventists have been applied to the formation and continued successful operation of well-known businesses such as ACF Investments and Avondale Nurseries, and also in successful fund-raising activities. |
